Swimming is known for having a wealth of benefits to physical, mental and emotional health. Therefore, it doesn’t come as a surprise that this sport has gained so much popularity among both the young and old.
Anybody can take on swimming as an exercise but only a handful emerge as champions, committing their lives to the sport. We are thrilled to share Lily Duke’s dedication to swimming and her story shared by her family.
“Lily swims for Stetford ASC and has been swimming competitively for three years. Lily has competed in the Lancashire County championships over the past couple of years and medalled in the 200 back stroke 11 year age group.
This year Lily qualified for 9 regional times in her age group for Swim England North West and has regularly been medalling in open competitions.
Lily trains 7 times a week up to 3km per session. Her favorite stroke is backstroke, she also enjoys butterfly and the individual medley. This year in her club champs Lily broke the long standing club record for her age group in 50m fly and 50m backstroke.
Lily also enjoys other sports including cycling and netball she is the captain of her school netball team.
She has now ran out of space on her 2nd medal holder and needs a third!”
