We love receiving photos of all your medals and each month our favourite will earn a free Medal Display and be featured in our Athlete Spotlight!
This month's featured athlete and winner of a new Medal Display is Claire Share, who has fallen in love with running and uses it to help cope with anxiety and depression.
Over to you Claire!
"The reason I began to run...
A few years ago I started suffering from anxiety and depression disorder and the one thing I found most frustrating about having this disorder was knowing that as you're freaking out there is NO reason to be freaked out but, lacking the ability to shut the emotion down.
This is when I found a new love in my life, RUNNING! It helped me to cope with my emotions and disorder.
The more I ran the more I loved me again, not because I'm perfect...far from it. But because with every mile I ran it was proving to me that I am capable of more than I ever thought possible.
It's now got to the point that when I run, it's nearly impossible to be sad. There's endorphins, the sense of accomplishment, time to think, time with friends and the feeling of my heart pounding inside my chest, reminding me that I'm alive with an amazing body that allows me to accomplish amazing things!
So if I can do it, anyone can. It only needs YOU to take the 1st steps and dream, believe & achieve. X💙
Thank you to Medal Displays for allowing me to tell my story. I hope someone can relate to it and take those 1st steps!"
